Get started

mcpdrives gives an agent one drive made from folders in your S3-compatible storage. This page takes you from an invitation to a first agent session in five steps.

Before you start

  • An invitation. mcpdrives is in early access, and sign-in works for addresses on the access list. Join the waitlist to get one.
  • A bucket on an S3-compatible service, such as Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2 or MinIO, and an access key that can list, read and write it.
  • An agent that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP, such as Claude Code, Codex, Claude, Cursor, VS Code or ChatGPT.

1. Sign in

Open cloud.mcpdrives.com/signin and enter your email address. We send a six-digit code that works for 10 minutes. After six wrong attempts you need a new code. A session lasts 30 days on that browser.

Your account starts with one drive named Home. You can add more drives at any time.

2. Add storage

On the Storage page, choose Add storage. Pick the provider, fill in the fields it needs, such as an account ID or a region, and enter the access key. mcpdrives lists the bucket with that key before it saves the connection, so a wrong key or bucket fails here rather than in your agent's session.

The secret is encrypted before it is stored and is never shown again, to you or to any agent. Give mcpdrives a key that is limited to the buckets you plan to mount; Storage providers has example policies.

Does someone else hold the key? Create a one-time link instead, and they enter the key and secret in their own browser. The link works once.

3. Mount folders in a drive

Open a drive and add a mount. A mount has four parts:

  • Path: where the folder appears in the drive, such as /r2-media.
  • Connection and bucket: which storage it comes from.
  • Folder: an optional prefix inside the bucket, such as media/2025/. Agents cannot see anything outside it.
  • Access: read only, add files, read and write, full access or drop box. Access and sharing explains each one.

Mount as many folders as the job needs, from any of your connections. A drive holds up to 16 mounts.

4. Connect an agent

Every drive has its own MCP URL. Copy it from the drive's page. It looks like this:

https://cloud.mcpdrives.com/mcp/d4k2m9x7q1w8e5r3

In Claude Code, for example, add the drive with one command, then run /mcp and choose it to sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http launch-assets https://cloud.mcpdrives.com/mcp/d4k2m9x7q1w8e5r3

A browser window opens on cloud.mcpdrives.com. Check the app name and return address, choose the folders and access the agent gets, and approve. Connect an agent has the steps for each client.

5. Try it

Ask your agent to work with the drive. A few requests to start with:

  • "List the drive and tell me what each mount allows."
  • "Copy /aws-archive/2025 into /r2-media/backup and count the files."
  • "Find every Markdown file that mentions TODO and summarize them."
  • "Give me a download link for /r2-media/backup/deck.pdf."

Each change appears on the drive's Activity tab with the agent's name. To end the agent's access, revoke it on the drive's Access tab.
